You can change the volume or turn off the ringer too. The telephone reception is good.
The ringer isn't too loud or soft. It's just right.
I've only had this phone for a short while and it works just fine. However, it does show dust.
The buttons push easilyand they don't stick. The phone is lightweight and has a nice black mattefinish that hardly shows fingerprints.
You can change from tone dialing to pulse dialing with the flick of a switch located underneath the phone. If you are looking for a reliable, retro phone this is a good value.
As noted by others, the included cord is curly plastic (not straight cloth-covered), the matte black plastic does not look exactly like old bakelite, and there is no recess behind the cradle for easy lifting. But, the phone closely mimics the antique, looks great in a room filled with vintage furniture and costs 1/5 the price of a rebuilt original phone. It worked perfectly out of the box and the old-fashioned bell ringer is just neat.
Love the phone, love the look. I find the ringer volume a bit loud as I installed the phone on a bedisde table, but it doesn't really matter to me.
I have had this phone for a few months now, and held off writing a review until now, because a different model of classic phone I bought first, quit working after a couple of days. NOT the case here - this CR62 Kettle phone has been working great. Nice mechanical bell ringer and heavy construction. Quite authentic looking.
I just got my phone today and I'm ready to return it.Reasons:1. The body of the phone( since not in metal ) should be at least a stronger heavier plastic, great disappointment. The web description of the phone is false. This phone does NOT come w/ the promised "cloth cord" shown on the picture, it's just the regular spring plastic one.A big detail for who wants a vintage look phone.2. It looks and feel like a cheap toy phone you might give for babies to play, not at all like a antique. There is no shine or matte treatment to it either, just very ugly and cheap plastic. If you want this phone I recommend the brushed chrome version, which is not as "vintage cool" as a color but it has a way better look and feel to it.
